Product junkie anonymous

We all have been or are recovering from being a product junkie. If you are not a product junkie; who are we kidding  you are most likely in denial let’s be honest here. Ok seriously you may really not be 🤷🏾‍♀️.But, chances are if you are reading this you might be you just really might be. So, now that we cleared that up what are we going to do about it.

Here are my tips on how to be less of a product junkie. Tip number one ☝🏾 don’t shop for hair products alone. Having someone to be your buffer works in your favor. For every “oh wow look at this” or “I gotta try this!”there is someone there to say do you really need that. Dont you have shampoo at home. Having someone there can really put things in perspective.

My second tip is to use what you have first. There is no reason to have five brands of shampoos. Just use what you have and when your finish  go out and buy another. Not only will you not have tons of shampoo, conditioner or a leave in for no reason you saved a few bucks in the process.

My third tip is don’t get sucked into trends. Just because everyone down your social media timeline is trying  Cantu doesn’t mean you have to. If you’re using Creme of Nature and it’s fulfilling all of your needs then stick with what works for you.  Although both are great products you know your hair better than anyone.

Another tip is to stick to a product for long enough to actually develop a real opinion on it. If you are swapping between ten products how do you really assess the benefits of any one product line. In my opinion it might prove to be difficult. Take your time sorting out what’s what.

One of the most important tips I have is read the label. If you begin to read the ingredients of a product before purchasing you may be a little more picky with your selection. For instance like most curly girls I don’t want sulfate or silicon’s in my hair product( I’m not perfect but that’s the goal). If I read that a product has these ingredients I’m less likely to buy it.

I’m not saying that you will wake up and no longer have the urge to try something new. I’m not even saying you shouldn’t try new things. I do so why not. Just remember to do so in moderation  that is if no longer being a product junkie is the goal. My name is Kristyn Aurora and I am a recovering product junkie. Remember, be happy, be curly, be you, and you will never fail! P. S don’t forget to check the expiration dates on your product stash 😉😉
